The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) have announced the launch of the Islamabad Sightseeing Double Decker Bus Service in January 2025.
This initiative aims to promote tourism in the capital city while offering visitors a unique experience. A briefing held on Wednesday was attended by key stakeholders, including Naveed Anjum, Manager of TDCP Mukhtar Ali, Manager of TICs Sadia Nauman, Manager of P&P at PTDC and representatives from major hotels in Islamabad.
During the session, Rana, a key official, outlined the details of the project. He emphasized the government’s commitment to developing tourism as a significant driver of economic growth.
The new service will offer guided tours of Islamabad’s key monuments and tourist sites twice a day, with pick-up and drop-off facilities from major hotels in the city. In the second phase of the program, PTDC will partner with the private sector to introduce weekend sightseeing tours to popular tourist destinations around Islamabad, such as Taxila, Rohta Fort, Ketas Raj, Murree, and Peshawar.
Rana described the double decker bus service as a modern and eco-friendly initiative designed to enhance the tourism appeal of Islamabad. He also highlighted that PTDC has developed an integrated tourism plan for the city, aiming to establish it as the gateway tourist destination of Pakistan.
The plan will be executed through collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.
