A young bride was shot and killed by her brother-in-law on her wedding day in Lahore in a shocking incident on Friday.
A tragic incident unfolded in Manga Mandi, Lahore, where a bride-to-be named Ayesha was shot dead on her wedding day. According to DIG Investigations Zeeshan Siddiqui, the suspect has been identified as Ikram, the victim’s own brother. Early in the morning, Ikram entered Ayesha’s room and opened fire, killing her on the spot.
Police said that the murder was the result of a family dispute. After committing the crime, Ikram called Rescue 15 himself to report the incident and then fled the scene. Law enforcement later arrested him in the Sundar area. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
This heartbreaking case adds to a growing list of violent incidents in Punjab. In another shocking event, a father was allegedly killed by his son during a heated argument in Kabirwala, Khanewal District. Police reported that the son escaped after the murder, and search efforts are ongoing. The body has been moved to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
In a separate case, a 23-year-old woman named Ayesha Habib was also shot dead by unknown attackers in Lahore’s Mohlanwal Aziz Colony. She too was reportedly set to be married on the same day. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and investigations are in progress.
These back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns about rising violence and lack of safety, especially for women, across the province. Police have promised a thorough probe into all the cases and aim to bring the culprits to justice.
