Tragic road crashes claim four lives in Karachi on Tuesday.
In Nazimabad No. 1, two sisters, Esther and Angel of 17 and 15 years old are killed in a horrifying accident. They are riding a motorcycle together with their brother when the bike runs out of control and skids. A massive 22-wheeler oil tanker crushes them under its rear wheels. The police arrive at the location and take the tanker.
The driver is arrested to be interrogated. The motorcyclist is a survivor by a miracle, but not the sisters. Deep mourning for the family of Rizvia Siraj Colony. Esther pursued first-year studies, and Angel was in class nine. The bodies are moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by rescue teams for formalities.
And in another horror at the Benazir Chowk in Ibrahim Hyderi, a ten-year-old Abdul Musawir is hit by a speeding car. The young boy dies instantly, leaving his loved ones heartbroken. Meanwhile, on Site Super Highway’s Mohammadi Goth, the motorcycle of 25-year-old Abdul Hameed is hit by an unknown car on the road. He dies there and then.
Police take all corpses to hospitals to take legal action. The last crash is a hit-and-run, which is hunted by the police. These accidents reveal the road safety crisis in Karachi. Uncontrolled conditions, overweight vehicles and reckless speeds are life-threatening. Families call on tougher enforcement and improved roads.
