KARACHI – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced a fresh three-month plan for flights at Gwadar Airport which will be in effect from December 1 to February 28, 2024.
Under the new plan, flights at the airport will operate on three days each week (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday).
Additionally, non-scheduled flights are required to inform the Gwadar Airport administration 24 hours in advance before their intended operation.
Gwadar Airport has played a crucial role in facilitating air travel to and from the city of Gwadar, contributing to the economic and strategic developments in the region.
Gwadar itself is positioned on the southwestern coast of the Arabian Sea in the Balochistan province. This area is strategically important, leading to significant development and commercial activities in recent years. The climate is predominantly dry, arid, and hot. The airport operates on a scheduled flight basis, offering convenient travel options. In Gwadar, a variety of hotels are available, catering to different budgets, from affordable family hotels to more luxurious accommodations. This reflects the growing infrastructure and amenities in the region to accommodate the increasing economic and tourism activities.
Furthermore, the construction of the New Gwadar International Airport will cost around Rs 60 billion, and China is providing the funding for this project as a grant. They plan to finish the work by August 2024 and open the airport in September 2024.
It is important to note that the benefits of Gwadar Airport are interconnected with the broader development goals of the Gwadar region and the national economic strategy of Pakistan.
