Telecom sector rejects 75% tax deduction on mobile balance for non-filers

To prevent unauthorized usage and ensure only authorized users access SIM cards, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a crackdown on SIM cards whose owners have passed away.

Act before the October 15 deadline to avoid service interruptions.

Visit the closest franchise to transfer a SIM card that is currently registered under the CNIC of a deceased family member to your name.

Don’t forget to bring the necessary paperwork, such as the original death certificate and a formal record attesting to your relationship.

To transfer the SIM to your name, go to the closest franchise.

Bring the official record attesting to your relationship as well as the original death certificate. Employees from the franchise will help with the transfer and verify the paperwork.

PTA attempts to improve telecom security and avert any abuse by cross-referencing SIMs with CNICs.

Make sure you transfer the SIM to your name and guarantee continuous service by doing the required actions before the deadline.

This action is a component of an ongoing endeavor to cross-reference SIMs with the Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) belonging to real users.

This approach has already led to the banning of almost 0.875 million SIMs that have not been confirmed since 2011.
