A local leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) and two women were killed and five others injured in a roadside explosion near Kalat district on Thursday, officials said.
The attack took place in a remote area, and according to security officials, the vehicle was completely destroyed in the explosion. Rescue teams reached the scene quickly and provided immediate medical aid to the injured victims. The wounded were first taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment and later shifted to Quetta for advanced medical care due to the severity of their injuries.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to find those responsible for the attack. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
Authorities are investigating whether the attack was aimed at specific individuals or if it was a general act of terror meant to cause chaos. Roadside IED attacks have been a recurring threat in the region, often targeting civilians, security personnel, or government convoys.
The incident has once again raised concerns about security in the area and the need for stronger measures to protect lives. Officials have promised to increase surveillance and patrols in high-risk zones to prevent such attacks in the future.
Local residents expressed fear and sadness after the incident and urged the government to take stronger steps against those behind these violent acts. This attack adds to the growing list of recent security incidents, highlighting the ongoing challenges in maintaining peace and stability in certain parts of the country.
