Lt. Gen. Asim Malik has been appointed as new Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), replacing Lt. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed Anjum.
The new head of country’s apex spy agency brings a strong military background, having served in the Balochistan infantry division and commanded an infantry brigade in Waziristan.

He earned the honorary sword during his training and has held significant positions, including chief instructor at the National Defense University (NDU) and instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta. He also attended training at Fort Leavenworth in the U.S. and the Royal College of Defense Studies in London.

His role as the new ISI chief will be critical as Pakistan faces rising militancy and political challenges.
