Fakhar Zaman denies T20I retirement rumours

Renowned Pakistan batter and Lahore Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman on Monday broke his silence on speculations about his retirement from T20 International cricket.

Earlier, he planned to bow out after the World Cup, but now he commits to ending his T20 career on a high note. At 35, Fakhar remains a cornerstone for Pakistan’s T20 side. He has smashed 2494 runs across 120 matches at a blistering strike rate of 132.51, featuring 14 half-centuries.

In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Fakhar shines for Lahore Qalandars in their 11th straight season. His brilliant form fuels the team’s campaign, thrilling fans with aggressive batting. Meanwhile, tragedy strikes Rawalpindi Pindiz as star pacer Naseem Shah faces indefinite exclusion from PSL 11 due to injury.

The franchise confirms Naseem’s absence after he suffered a side strain against Karachi Kings. This blow hurts deeply, given his stellar recent performances as one of the team’s top bowlers. Management notes that medical staff closely monitors his recovery. They hope rehab and fitness tests pave the way for a late tournament return, possibly in the finals.

Rawalpindi Pindiz stands firmly behind Naseem, offering full support during rehab. As PSL action heats up highlighted by Islamabad United’s recent seven-wicket thrashing of Rawalpindi these developments shift dynamics. Fakhar’s renewed hunger boosts Lahore’s playoff push, while Naseem’s setback tests Pindiz resilience.

Fans eagerly await updates, blending excitement over batting fireworks with concern for bowling depth. Pakistan cricket marches on, showcasing talent and grit amid highs and lows.
