Muneeba Ali nominated for ICC Women’s Player of the Month

Pakistan’s in-form opener Muneeba Ali has earned a place among the three nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for August 2025, after her record-breaking performances against Ireland last month.

She achieved 100 runs off 68 balls in the third match, hitting 14 boundaries and a six. Her innings not only helped Pakistan secure victory but also made her the first Pakistani woman to score multiple hundreds in T20 internationals. Throughout the series, Muneeba emerged as Pakistan’s top performer with the bat, scoring 132 runs at an average of 66. Notably, both of her T20I centuries have come against Ireland, with the first scored during the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Her consistent performance has earned her a nomination for the ICC Player of the Month award. She will compete with two rising European stars for the title. Ireland’s Orla Prendergast earned her nomination after scoring 144 runs and taking four wickets in Ireland’s 2–1 series win over Pakistan.

The 23-year-old also received the Player of the Series award. Netherlands all-rounder Iris Zwilling completes the list of nominees. If Muneeba wins, she will become the fourth Pakistani after Nida Dar, Sidra Ameen, and Tuba Hassan to receive the ICC Player of the Month award. The winner will be decided through a combination of public voting and an ICC expert panel. A victory for Muneeba would mark another milestone in her steadily rising career, which continues to inspire Pakistan’s women cricketers. Her achievements highlight the growing strength of Pakistan’s women’s cricket team and encourage young players across the country to pursue the sport at a professional level.
