The contributions of notable women to the development of the country from 1947 until the present are now covered in the redesigned 10th grade Pakistan Studies curriculum.
These achievements will be taught in both public and private schools under the uniform education curriculum. The textbook recognizes the efforts of Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, and her mother, Kulsoom Nawaz, as well as other influential figures like Benazir Bhutto, Fehmida Mirza, and Nusrat Bhutto.
For the first time, Benazir Bhutto and Nusrat Bhutto are listed together in the 10th-grade curriculum. The book also mentions Maryam Nawaz’s appointment as Punjab’s first female Chief Minister in 2024 and the initiatives she launched in key sectors like infrastructure, energy, agriculture, health, and education.
Justice Ayesha Neelum, who became the first female Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court in 2024, is also featured in the textbook. The text also acknowledges Dr. Fehmida Mirza’s role as Speaker of the National Assembly from 2008 to 2013.
These achievements are included in Chapter 8, page 163, of the updated curriculum, highlighting the impact of these women in governance, law, and public service. The new Pakistan Studies textbook will be taught in schools nationwide. This initiative aims to inspire students by showcasing the positive contributions of women leaders in Pakistan.
