The Punjab government has announced the launch of the Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025 to distribute 112000 high-performance laptops among students in public sector universities, colleges, and medical institutions.

These laptops, including 13th-generation Core i7 models, will be handed over to students starting October 31, 2025. The registration portal will open in June, and the last date to apply is September 30, 2025, through the official site cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk. To qualify, BS students must secure at least 65 percent marks, while medical and dental students need 80 percent. Applicants who already received a laptop under any previous scheme will not be eligible.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will inaugurate the scheme on September 6, and the laptops will be distributed by the end of October. The program builds on earlier phases where 14000 laptops were distributed in Lahore, and this time, it will cover students across Punjab, showing the government’s focus on modern education and promoting innovation.

At the federal level, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also announced the PM Laptop Scheme 2025, under which 100,000 laptops will be given to students across Pakistan on merit. The announcement was made on International Youth Day in Islamabad. The laptops will be distributed among students in all provinces, the federal capital, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Eligibility requires students to be enrolled in PhD, MS, MPhil, Master’s, or Bachelor’s programs. A minimum CGPA of 2.8 or 60 percent marks is required, while first-semester students will be assessed based on intermediate marks. Applications can be submitted through the Digital Youth Hub mobile app or the PM Youth Programme website pmyp.gov.pk. The quota system reserves 18 percent of laptops for Balochistan and 5 percent for distance learning students. This scheme is separate from the interest-based loan initiative for laptops.
