NADRA PakID app introduces new innovative feature

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), has launched a new system for fingerprint verification.

Citizens can now apply for new passports or renewals without waiting in long queues by using the official e-Services Portal. Applicants seeking new passports can confirm their fingerprints through the NADRA Pak-ID mobile app anytime and anywhere. If fingerprint confirmation fails, the app also provides a facial recognition option. To start, users must visit the online passport portal and log in to the PAK-ID app during the biometric verification stage.

After selecting “Online Passport,” applicants enter their passport tracking ID and CNIC number, then confirm their fingerprints or facial recognition. Once the verification is complete, they are directed back to the web portal to submit the application and complete the remaining process. The portal also allows registered users to log in directly, while new users must register with their correct mobile number and email address. A verification link is sent to the email to complete registration.

Applicants can choose from five options depending on their requirement and select the nearest passport office to avoid long-distance travel. For renewals, passports must have less than one year of validity, and major changes, such as name or occupation, are not allowed online. The system also provides guidelines for uploading photographs and documents. Photos for men and women must meet the specified criteria, and uploaded files should not exceed 1 MB in PNG, JPG, or JPEG formats. This online process aims to simplify passport applications, reduce waiting times, and make the process accessible from home. Citizens are encouraged to follow the step-by-step instructions carefully to ensure smooth submission and approval of their passport applications.
