Govt unveils winter gas plan for Punjab and KP

The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has issued a new gas load-shedding schedule for gas consumers in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the winter months from December to February.

According to officials, households will receive gas three times a day. The morning supply will remain available from 5:30am to 8:30am, the midday supply from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and the evening supply from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Families have been advised to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner during these fixed hours to avoid inconvenience.

The company explained that these timings have been set to ensure that most households at least get gas during essential cooking hours. Officials added that despite heavy winter pressure on the system, gas is still available, and the schedule will help manage demand more effectively. They also mentioned that many areas were facing uneven supply, so the new plan aims to provide a fair distribution across cities.

Meanwhile, SNGPL confirmed that the industrial sector will not face gas load-shedding under the new arrangement. The company said industry plays a major role in economic activity, and its uninterrupted supply is important for production and employment. By keeping industrial supply stable, SNGPL believes the overall system will remain balanced without affecting household access during the designated windows.

The officials also urged consumers to use gas responsibly and avoid unnecessary wastage. They stressed that gas is costly and should be used strictly according to household needs, especially at a time when demand is sharply increasing. They advised residents to check their appliances, ensure proper maintenance, and avoid leaving burners on without use.
