Government to set up 10,000 e-Rozgar Centers to facilitate Freelancers in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – In a recent announcement, Caretaker Minister if IT&T, Dr. Umar Saif announced that the government will launch 10,000 e-Rozgar centres in Pakistan initiating from January 11, 2024. The purpose of these centres will be to support the freelancers of Pakistan to increase inward remittance.

In a major move to support freelancers and startups in Pakistan, Dr. Umar states that these centres will have state-of-the-art technology to support the freelancers.

He stated that this initiative is aimed to provide workspaces for more than 1.5 million freelancers in Pakistan who are facing such issues.

Furthermore, Dr. Umar stated that this is Pakistan’s need at the moment as freelancers if provided the support they need could be the key to high inward remittances.

Dr. Umar stated that the youth should turn to entrepreneurship and become entrepreneurs so they can have a significant impact.

Moreover, existing freelancers should help others to learn alongside providing them with employment opportunities.

Another exciting news for IT Graduates as the Minister announced a universal test for all graduates after their graduation.

HEC will organise this test and IT graduates if passed will be offered internships for their growth.

According to statistics, over 75,000 IT graduates are produced every year in Pakistan out of which only 3,000 are employed.

He also hinted at massive growth in IT exports as he suggested that they could reach almost $4 billion now that the State Bank of Pakistan has relaxed them.
