Easy loan scheme introduced in Punjab for new businesses

The Punjab government has rolled out the CM Punjab Asaan Karobar Loan Scheme, a flagship initiative under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), startups, and aspiring entrepreneurs across the province.

The program provides interest-free loans to both aspiring and existing business owners. It is designed to empower women, youth, rural entrepreneurs, and marginalized groups so that financial barriers do not block capable business ideas.

Loan options and application procedure

The scheme offers loans through two main tiers along with an exclusive Asaan Karobar Card. Under Tier-1, applicants can access unsecured loans of up to PKR 5 million with only a personal guarantee. Tier-2 provides secured loans ranging from PKR 6 million to PKR 30 million against collateral. The Asaan Karobar Card allows quick financing of up to PKR 1 million without collateral, offering flexible support to small businesses.

To qualify, applicants must be residents of Punjab between 25 and 55 years of age with a valid CNIC. Existing businesses must show proper registration and operational history, while all applicants need to maintain a clean credit record. Preference will be given to women, youth, differently-abled persons, and rural entrepreneurs. A feasible business plan or expansion proposal is also required.

The application process is simple. Applicants need to register online through the official portal, choose their loan category, and submit necessary documents including CNIC, business plan, financial statements, collateral proof for Tier-2, and passport-size photographs. A processing fee of PKR 5000 applies for Tier-1 and PKR 10,000 for Tier-2. After approval, the loan amount is directly transferred to the applicant’s bank account.
