The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has allowed foreign visitors to bring vehicles into Pakistan for three months.
In a notification released on Friday, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) stated that customs officials can allow tourists to import vehicles without charging customs duties for a three-month stay in Pakistan if they come in under a carnet-de-passage or a bank guarantee.
Tourists must declare at the customs station or port that they will not sell or transfer ownership of the vehicle while in Pakistan.
If a tourist cannot export the vehicle within that time, they can apply to the relevant Collector before the period ends for an extension of up to three months. The extension is granted only if the carnet or bank guarantee is valid and the holder agrees to stay in Pakistan during this time.
This notification aims to promote tourism by simplifying vehicle entry procedures, making travel easier for visitors.
However, tourists must follow the rules; otherwise, they risk penalties or having their vehicles seized by customs.
This initiative by the FBR shows Pakistan’s commitment to boosting tourism while ensuring proper regulations. By allowing tourists to bring their vehicles, the government hopes to improve the travel experience and encourage visitors to explore the country’s many attractions.
