Pakistan Railways will launch a new train service from Karachi to Raiwind to better serve the public.
The first train, which will include 14 economy-class coaches, is expected to depart Karachi on November 6 at 1:30 p.m. and reach Raiwind at around 8:00 a.m. the next day, according to the Ministry of Railways.
In order to meet its income target of more than 100 billion rupees for the upcoming fiscal year (2024–25), the ministry expects this new service to generate about 8.5 million rupees.
Pakistan Railways recorded record earnings of 88 billion rupees earlier this year for the fiscal year 2023-24, which concluded on June 30.
This was a 40% rise over the previous year and exceeded the 73 billion rupee target.
In addition to other revenue streams, ticket sales generated 47 billion rupees, the freight services brought in 28 billion, and railway land leasing brought in 13 billion.
Pakistan Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch thanked the passengers for their trust in PR services in a statement to a local news channel, pointing out that the Eid special trains were a great success and had full reservations.
