ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan is expected to jack up petrol, and diesel rates from October 2024, despite earlier indications of a price cut.
Sources familiar with development revealed that petrol may increase by 11 paisas per litre, while high-speed diesel could see a decrease of Rs2.11.
The official announcement will be made on Monday night, after final approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This news comes on the heels of previous reports suggesting a significant reduction in fuel prices, fueled by a downward trend in inflation.
In most recent price review, petrol was reduced by Rs10, and the new price was set at Rs249.10 per litre, while high-speed diesel was cut by Rs13.06, bringing it to Rs249.69.

Additionally, light diesel oil prices fell by Rs12.12 to Rs141.93, and kerosene oil was reduced by Rs11.15, now priced at Rs158.47, according to a recent notification from the Finance Division.
