Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif formally launched 1000 free tractors schemes for the wheat farmers under CM Punjab Wheat Initiative Programme.
The first tractor was given to Kausar Parveen, a female farmer from Bahawalnagar. The CM personally called and congratulated the successful farmers, including Muhammad Iqbal from Jhang and Salman Ahmed from Mandi Bahauddin.
She highlighted several initiatives for farmers, including the Green Tractor, Kisan Card, and Super Seeder programs. She expressed hope for a bumper wheat crop and prayed for the prosperity of farmers.
A briefing revealed that 57733 farmers with more than 12.5 acres of land applied for the scheme. After scrutiny, 21496 were deemed eligible for the balloting. A total of 1000 farmers will receive 55-horsepower tractors free of cost within three months. Wheat cultivation covered 560000 acres in Punjab.
