ISLAMABAD – The caretaker federal government will announce the revised prices of petrol and diesel on January 21, 2024, under the fortnightly review policy.
The new prices will come into effect from February 1, 2024. The government is expected to increase the petroleum prices after it provided relief to masses in previous months.
Reports suggest the authorities are considering the increase due to surge in prices in the international market.
Keeping in view the international trend, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) is expected to recommend Rs7 per litre increase in prices of petrol and diesel each.
Currently, the petrol price stands at Rs259.34 while the high speed diesel is being sold for Rs276.21 per litre in the country.
The per litre petrol price would surge to Rs266.34 per litre and diesel price to Rs283.21 if the government approves Rs7 per litre hike.
