In recent news, a mobile camera app named NoteCam Lite- GPS Memo that is available on PlayStore has been banned by the government of Pakistan in a cybersecurity advisory.
The Government of Pakistan has issued an advisory prohibiting the use of this online camera app as it is used by hostile International agencies for gathering data.
App employees and government officials have been notified of the application and caution is advised for anyone who uses the app.
The government has also ordered not to take pictures of any military location or infrastructure as the camera demands GPS location and some suspicious permissions to gather grid data and map the area.
The app has over 10 million downloads from PlayStore only and it asks for permissions related to GPS and data reading on your device.
Furthermore, NoteCam Lite also provides information like Latitude, longitude, accuracy, time and time.
However, experts suggested that the app is extensively harmful for its suspicious permissions related to precise location of the device, access to SD card and the ability to read that information, run background services on the device, and the ability to read, modify, and even delete contents present in SD card alongside full network access are severely dangerous.
The advisory states that the usage of this app will be treated as banned and also not to use its pro version which comes by the name of NoteCam Pro-Photo.
