The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly hot and dry weather for most parts of the country on Friday, with very hot conditions expected in the southern regions.
This weather pattern will affect most regions, especially southern and upper parts of the country. Day temperatures in Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan are likely to stay 5 to 7°C above normal. Meanwhile, from April 27 to 30, central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will experience temperatures 4 to 6°C higher than average.
The Met Office has issued a public advisory due to expected heatwave conditions. People, particularly children, women, and the elderly, are advised to avoid direct sunlight during daytime and keep themselves hydrated. Farmers are encouraged to plant wheat harvesting and protect their livestock accordingly.
Additionally, rising temperatures in northern areas may cause faster snowmelt, which can increase water flow in rivers. Citizens are urged to use water wisely in all aspects of life.Relief is expected as a weather system is likely to enter the northern regions from April 30. This system may bring rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy rainfall or hailstorms in Kashmir, Islamabad, Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper KP, and Gilgit-Baltistan between April 30 and May 1.
These weather changes could damage weak structures such as poles, trees, and solar panels. The expected rainfall is likely to reduce the heatwave across the country starting from May 1.
