ISLAMABAD – The federal government has decided to appoint senior diplomat Rizwan Saeed as Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United States.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch confirmed the development during the weekly briefing.
She also announced the appointment of Asim Iftikhar as Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Asim Iftikhar has served at the ambassador to France. He would take up the new role at an appropriate time.
The spokesperson said that these appointments are part of routine diplomatic reshuffles and had been under consideration for several weeks. Masood Khan is a Pakistani-Kashmiri diplomat who is currently serving as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States.
