NAROWAL: The Punjab government has installed a permanent statue of Maharajah Ranjit Singh at Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.
Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs and Pardhan of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, along with officials from the Project Management Unit Kartarpur and Sikh pilgrims from India, attended the installation ceremony.
The minister spoke to the gathering on the occasion and emphasized the importance of the statue for the Sikh community. The bronze statue weights between 250 and 350kg.
It is worth mentioning that Kartarpur Sahib is hosting a massive gathering of Sikh pilgrims from all around the world, including India, who are here to commemorate the 185th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
The minister had recently got approved revisions to the Punjab Sikh Anand Karaj Marriage Registrar Rules 2024 and Punjab Sikh Anand Karaj Marriage Rules 2024 from the provincial cabinet.
Ramesh had noted that the Sikh marriage act was the first of its kind in Punjab and that no other province in the world had marriage acts for Sikh communities.
