Two weekly holidays for schools in Lahore from August 15;check update

LAHORE – All public and private schools in Lahore are expected to observe two weekly holidays after the summer vacations.

Summer holidays began on June 1, 2024 and are set to end on August 14, with all schools reopening from Aug 15.

Earlier this year, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that there would also be a weekly holiday on Saturday.

He added that schools will remain closed for two days in a week [Saturday and Sunday].

He had said the decision aimed at providing relief to teachers, who are serving the nation, adding: “We should take care of them”.Rana Sikandar Hayat said decision regarding two weekly holidays has been taken to manage workload on teachers.

Furthermore, the government would extend school hours so two weekly offs do not hurt the education of students. Schools in all other cities of Punjab would also observe two holidays in a week.

The government is yet to issue a notification in this regard.
