SIALKOT – The runway of Sialkot International Airport will remain shut for maintenance purposes for a period of around 13 days in the upcoming month.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed the closure of the airport from May 6 to May 18 and a Notice to Airmen (Notam), has been issued accordingly.
In this regard, passengers have been advised to consult their relevant airline for updated information about any updation in the schedule of local or international flights.
The Sialkot International Airport, measuring 1034 acres, is a hub for global connectivity and is located 16 k.m. to the west of Sialkot and at a 40-minute drive from Gujrat and Gujranwala cities.
A brief history of the operations at the facility is that the total cost of the airport is about Rs.4 billion while the operation of Domestic and International Flights started on November 30, 2007.
It is to be highlighted that the airport is unique in the sense that it has been built largely by the private sector.
