Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and FM’s bodies found after helicopter crash

TEHRAN – Body of Iranian President Embrahim Raisi was found after his helicopter crashed on Sunday, said Iran’s Red Crescent in a statement.

It said that body of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian was also found, adding that the bodies were being shifted to Tabriz.

Iran’s President and foreign minister have died after a helicopter carrying him and his entourage crashed in country’s East Azerbaijan province. 

East Azarbaijan Province’s Governor Malek Rahmati were also on board the crashed aircraft. They were en route to Tabriz City after inaugurating a dam at the border with the Azerbaijan Republic on Sunday.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic death of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, in a helicopter crash.

In their separate statements, the President and the Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the Iranian President, the Foreign Minister, and others who lost their lives in the accident.
