Heatwaves: Schools closed for 7 days in Punjab

The Punjab government on Monday announced the closure of schools across the province for seven days due to scorching temperature.

A notification in this regard has been issued, stating: “In view of surge in temperature and heatwave in the proivince, all public and private schools shall remain closed for seven days with effect from 25th May 2024 to 31st May 2024”.

“However, schools will be allowed to conduct examinations as scheduled with necessary precautions to ensure safety of students,” it added.

However, schools will not reopen after May 31 as summer vacations are set to begin from June 1, 2024. The provincial government has announced summer holidays till August 14 with schools reopening on Aug 15.
