Pakistan applies for BRICS membership 2024 after being blocked last year

According to an interview, Pakistan’s newly appointed ambassador to Russia Mohammad Khalid Jamali has stated that Pakistan has now applied for another membership for BRICS 2024 after being blocked last year.

Pakistan is seeking the support of Russia in the application as it could be a potentially game-changing move for Pakistan if it becomes a member of the BRICS community consisting of Brazil, India, South Africa, and China.

Even though Pakistan’s application was rejected last year, it hopes to attain the acceptance this year due to the chairmanship of Russia. One member had rejected Pakistan’s application last year.

BRICS brings together 6 of the largest developing economies in the world. In its last meeting BRICS had thought of inviting six new members to the group. Pakistan has applied for 2024 membership of BRICS.
