Pakistani man killed by falling missile debris in Abu Dhabi

Falling shrapnel from an intercepted missile killed a Pakistani national in Abu Dhabi, the government media office said Tuesday.

Iran launched over 1,900 missiles and drones at the UAE, the highest number against any country since the Middle East war began late last month. Air defenses intercepted most threats, but some incidents rattled residents. In Abu Dhabi’s Bani Yas area, an event occurred right after air defenses stopped a ballistic missile. The Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed this.

In Dubai, an AFP journalist heard three loud explosions following a mobile alert that urged people in the UAE’s busiest city to seek shelter immediately due to possible missile dangers. Iran targeted US bases in Gulf nations, plus key sites like landmarks, airports, ports, and oil facilities. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed this week that US bases in the Middle East launched air raids, and missiles fired from the UAE hit Iran’s Kharg Island.

UAE officials denied these accusations. The attacks disrupted travel in Dubai, the region’s financial center, even as defenses blocked nearly all incoming projectiles. Qatar faced similar threats. On Tuesday, it intercepted a missile attack amid Iran’s ongoing retaliation for US-Israeli strikes that killed its supreme leader.

An AFP journalist heard several blasts in Doha that day, following similar explosions across the capital the previous day. Iran has struck Gulf neighbors with drones and missiles since the war erupted, halting commercial flights and squeezing global energy supplies. Qatar, like other Gulf states, endured multiple hits in recent days.

These events highlight rising tensions. Air defenses hold strong, but explosions and alerts disrupt daily life and travel. Leaders deny involvement, yet Iran presses its campaign. Gulf nations stay vigilant as the conflict escalates, impacting energy markets worldwide.
