Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the Climate Leadership Development Internship Program to fight environmental pollution and boost youth skills.
This initiative empowers young people with hands-on experience and global training. Selected interns receive a monthly stipend of Rs60000 for three months. They also earn a certificate from the Punjab government upon completion. The program offers top-level international training and a chance to secure UNESCO certification—a standout feature that opens doors worldwide.
To promote equality, 50% of seats reserve for female students. An automatic merit system ensures fair representation from every district, giving everyone a shot. Interns work directly with officers from the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and the Environmental Policy Unit. They gain real-world skills in tackling pollution, especially in high-risk areas like Lahore.
Maryam Nawaz noted that pollution levels in Punjab, particularly Lahore, continue to drop thanks to ongoing efforts. She welcomes youth involvement, stressing that every young person can drive real change through this program. Over 1.1 million youth registered for her Maryam Ko Batain initiative in just 10 days, showing huge interest in such opportunities.
Youth can apply easily from home via the new online portal. Visit the site, fill out the form, and join the green mission. This program not only provides financial support but also builds future leaders in climate action. It aligns with Punjab’s push for cleaner air and empowered youth, making a big impact on Pakistan’s environment.
