Sources suggest that China’s top diplomat is all set for a trip to Washington DC before the visit of Xi regarding the escalating tensions and trying to keep them in check.
The Foreign Minister of China, Mr. Wang Yi is the highest-ranking individual of China and is said to have visited from Thursday to Saturday to have talks regarding trade, the escalating tensions in the Middle East. A US official stated that the treason of the trip is to have diplomatic talks as it’s the best way to tackle challenging situations that the two largest economies of the world are facing.
The US official also stated that the best way to tackle miscommunication and misinterpretation, and misperception is to have face-to-face discussions to ensure everybody’s on the same page.
Antony Blinken’s visit to China
Before Wang Yi, the highest-ranking US Diplomat Antony Blinken had a visit to China where he had discussions with Xi that lasted for almost 11 hours. Officials suggest that Wang might also go through the same thing regarding his meeting with President Joe Biden, who’s currently in Washington DC.
President Biden saw Xi almost a year ago last November. After that, both sides haven’t officially met even though both China and the US have shown a keen interest in Diplomatic talks and hope to meet soon. Replying to a US official on whether MR. Xi will visit USA, he replied that he is hoping to see Mr. Xi and did not mention anything else.
Tensions between the Philippines and China
Tensions between the Philippines and China also escalated as the Philippines reported that China has deliberately hit their boats that were on a resupply mission in contested waters. However, China has slammed back at the Philippines and accused them of providing false information.
