Pakistan’s Space sector has been lacking over the past few years. With the country’s economy plummeting after every few months and finding it difficult to stabilise, the space sector has been launching. It has been long since Pakistan’s Space Agency SUPARCO, has set out on a new mission for space exploration and has been declining in the past few years. However, the initial draft of Pakistan’s Space Policy has been prepared by the Ministry of IT and Telecom. The National Space Policy is to be launched but what’s in it?
Ministry of IT and Telecom
According to several sources the initial draft has finally been prepared by the Ministry of IT and Telecom. They have shared the draft with the numerous Ministries for their feedback. Several sources suggest the discussion on the draft is still ongoing and the draft is still in its initial stage. The consultation process is still ongoing and the Ministries will provide their feedback on it to see if it requires changing as it’s not finished yet.
First NSP of Pakistan
Till this day Pakistan has not had any Space policy. Reports suggest that this decline in the Space Sector is due to the absence of any Space Policy. According to experts this might be the reason why Pakistan has been lacking in the Space Sector while its neighboring country India has achieved great feats in Space exploration. The Indian Space Agency ISRO, has recently sent a probe to Mars and has achieved success and many renowned Space Exploration companies such NASA want to collaborate with ISRO
Experts at SUPARCO suggest that NSP could pave the way to the advancement of Pakistan’s Space Program and could open the door for collaboration and research with other renowned companies such as China’s Space Agency as well.
National Space Council
Several sources have informed Safety & Security Today that a National Space Council has been proposed that will issue upto four licenses in different sectors of Space to cover all the sectors.
The satellite framework is already ready and awaiting authentication. After the approval of National Space Council the licenses will be issued and Pakistan will start to delve into the Space realm with a deeper insight and approach than before.
The Telecom Industry has also seen a new player, Onic. Onic has proven to be a tough opponent for the existing Telecom companies of Pakistan due to its cost-effectiveness and performance. Check Onic SIM Cards, Rates, Packages and Number Code Here.
