KARACHI – Sindh residents are expected to get two holidays of 11th and 12th Rabbiul Awwal, with all eyes on government for the decision.
Governor Kamran Khan Tessori said he proposed to both prime minister and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah the addition of the 11th of Rabiul Awwal as a public holiday, alongside the 12th, for the blissful occasion.
Tessori shared this information after a meeting at the Governor House, where he reviewed preparations for the Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. The meeting, which also included Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and various religious scholars, focused on organizing the event’s processions and gatherings.
Governor also announced that major celebration will be held at the Governor House on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal (September 17), featuring special lights and open to the public.
He further noted that religious leaders had suggested making both the 11th and 12th of Rabiul Awwal public holidays, and he plans to present this suggestion to the prime minister and Sindh chief minister.
Pakistan federal government has declared September 17, 2024, a public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi, celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Schools, colleges, and offices will be closed.
