ISLAMABAD – Another relief for inflation-weary Pakistanis as the federal government is expected to cut petrol and diesel rates from September 16, 2024.
The major reduction in fuel prices come in line with drop in both the inflation rate and global oil prices. Petrol and high-speed diesel prices could each be slashed by Rs12 per litre, while the rate for kerosene oil is projected to decrease by Rs8 per litre.
The final approval for these reductions will hinge on fluctuations in the international oil market, which will be reviewed between September 12 and 14.
Petrol Price in Pakistan from September 16
| Product | Ex-Depot Rates |
| Petrol | Around Rs247.1 |
| Diesel | Rs250.75 |
The new prices are set to be disclosed on September 15, with the revised rates coming into effect the following day. As of now, petrol is priced at Rs259.1 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs262.75 per litre.
If the anticipated reductions are confirmed, the new petrol rate will be approximately Rs247.1 per litre, and the diesel price is expected to be around Rs250.75 per litre starting September 16. This adjustment is expected to bring substantial savings for consumers across the country.
