RIYADH – In a significant development, the authorities in Saudi Arabia have introduced a one-year multiple-entry e-visas specifically tailored for pilgrims from Azerbaijan.
The announcement of this innovative e-Visa system came during a meeting between Saudi officials and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, held in Baku. The move is aimed at streamlining the process for Umrah pilgrims, and marks a significant stride in strengthening ties between the two nations.
Under this new system, pilgrims from Azerbaijan now have the convenience of obtaining their visas through the VISITSAUDI portal or upon arrival, with a visa validity of up to one year and a stay duration of up to 90 days. This streamlined process aims to alleviate the complexities associated with visa procedures, allowing pilgrims to focus entirely on their spiritual journey without unnecessary hassles.
Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al Rabiah emphasized the significance of this initiative, highlighting the Saudi government’s dedication to enhancing the pilgrimage experience through digital innovation. By prioritizing accessibility and enriching cultural experiences for Muslims worldwide, Saudi Arabia reaffirms its role as a custodian of the two Holy Mosques.
In line with these efforts, Saudi Arabia has recently introduced AI guidance robots developed by the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. These cutting-edge robots leverage advanced technology to streamline religious rituals and provide invaluable assistance to pilgrims.
The Guidance Robots are equipped to respond to pilgrims’ inquiries regarding religious rituals with precision and accuracy, offering simplified explanations in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, French, and more. This groundbreaking initiative not only saves pilgrims valuable time but also ensures round-the-clock support, irrespective of cultural or linguistic background.
By introducing the Guidance Robots and implementing visa reforms, Saudi Arabia is taking significant steps towards enhancing the spiritual journey of Hajj and Umrah performers and enriching their pilgrimage experience.
Saudi Arabia, a Middle Eastern nation, is known for its rich cultural heritage and Islamic landmarks. With a population exceeding 34 million, key destinations include the capital Riyadh, the vibrant coastal city Jeddah, and the historic city of Mecca, home to the Islamic holy site Kaaba.
