Sirbaz Khan becomes first Pakistani to conquer all 8,000ers

After reaching the Shishapangma peak (8,027m) in Tibet, Sirbaz Khan became the first climber from Pakistan to summit all 14 mountains in the world that exceed 8,000m.

Only a few climbers have succeeded in reaching the summit of all 14 “eight-thousanders,” which is regarded as the biggest trophy in climbing.

11 climbers arrived at the summit at 4:06 p.m. local time on Thursday, according to a statement from Imagine Nepal, the group that organized Mr. Khan’s ascent.

All 14 8,000ers were submitted by five members of the group, including Mr. Khan, and MingmaG did so without the need for additional oxygen, according to the organizers.

On Friday, renowned alpinist Naila Kiani of Pakistan attested to Mr. Khan’s achievement. She stated on Facebook, “History has been made.”

Karrar Haidri, the secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, praised Mr. Khan for “breaking boundaries” at his most recent summit.

His expedition “exemplifies the power of perseverance and meticulous preparation, cementing his place in mountaineering history,” he said.

Originating from Aliabad hamlet in Hunza, Mr. Khan began his alpine career eleven years ago as a kitchen lad and porter.

Not only has he climbed Mount Everest twice, but he is the only Pakistani climber to have reached the summit of 11 of the 14 summits without the need for extra oxygen.
