In a shocking development, Javed Iqbal Bajwa, the Deputy Station Manager of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Birmingham, United Kingdom, resigned after his intermediate certificate was found to be fake.
Bajwa is reportedly the brother of former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.
PIA initiated an inquiry into Mr. Bajwa’s educational records after suspicions arose about the authenticity of his intermediate certificate. Upon verification from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore, the certificate was declared bogus.
Following this, PIA requested Mr. Bajwa to resign.
PIA issues show-cause notice
A show-cause notice was issued to Mr. Bajwa on August 30, giving him seven days to prove the certificate’s legitimacy. However, Mr. Bajwa resigned from his post after failing to provide valid proof.
The incident has caused embarrassment for PIA as it highlights issues with employee verification processes. A spokesperson for PIA confirmed the situation, stating that top officials had requested Mr. Bajwa’s resignation following the inquiry.
Urgent Need for Stricter Measures: this case raises serious concerns about employee credential verification and the need for stricter measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
