KARACHI – Tensions between Pakistan and Iran have been rising after Iran conducted missile and drone attacks in Pakistan on January 17, 2024 killing 2 innocent girls and injuring 3 more.
Pakistan has taken serious steps as the Iranian Ambassador in Pakistan was sent back to Iran and all immediate high-level visits have been suspended till further notice.
Islamabad and Tehran have been in communications as Pakistan called for Iran’s officials to condemn these attacks.
Pakistan had warned Iran that a breach of National Security and sovereignty is unacceptable as both countries had numerous channels for communication.
This move by Iran has severely damaged the bilateral relations between two countries as Iran stated that they targeted Jaish-al-Adl, a terrorist group’s base in Pakistan.
Afterwards, Pakistan has conducted precision military attacks inside the Iranian borders killing 6 terrorists who were confirmed to be non-Iranian nationals.
This was evident as breach of Pakistani airspace had to have consequences as said by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.
However, due to the rising tensions, China has offered to play a constructive role to dissolve tensions between the two neighbouring countries.
The Consul General of China in Karachi, Yang Yudong stated that China will offer to play a role to reduce the escalating tensions between Pakistan and Iran.
The Consul General further added that Pakistan and Iran need to restrain themselves and conduct peaceful talks to resolve these matters.
The US has also condemned Iran’s Airstrikes in Pakistan as a breach of the UN International Laws.
Consul General of China, Yang Yudong stated that China has also called for a ceasefire in Gaza and wishes to collaborate with key players to stop the bloodshed.
The escalating war in Gaza has now spread all over Yemen as Israel continues to bombard Palestine’s Gaza for more than a 100 days now.
The Consul General of China, Yang Yudong stated that China has condemned these attacks from Day 1 and China and Chinese people do not go in support of this continued massacre.
When asked about the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he stated that CPEC’s phase 1 has been finalised and this will surely benefit both China and Pakistan, specifically the local people of Pakistan.
The Consul General of China is willing to play a crucial and constructive role to diffuse the ever-growing tensions between Pakistan and Iran.
