ISLAMABAD – September 6 the National Defence Day in Pakistan, will not be a public holiday this year as federal government clarified recent rumors about holiday.
Ministry of Information issued a statement confirming that viral notification claiming a public holiday is fabricated. Ministry’s Fact Check page on social media said spreading false information is both “unethical” and illegal, noting that “Disseminating #FakeNews is harmful to the nation.”
The government has urged the public to reject such misleading information amid buzz over public holiday on Friday.

Defence Day honors the sacrifices made by soldiers during the 1965 War with India. The day commemorates Pakistan’s defense against the Indian forces that crossed the border. Traditionally, the day is marked with military parades, weapon displays, and other ceremonies.
