Getting your Islamabad e-tag just got simple — steps inside

The district administration has announced that E-Tag stickers for vehicles will begin to be issued on November 18.

Officials confirmed that these locations will be shared with the public beforehand to ensure smooth distribution. For collection, vehicle owners must present their vehicle registration card, and the stickers will be issued for all vehicles, whether registered in Islamabad or any other province. Moreover, the district administration stressed that E-Tags will only be issued at officially approved points to avoid misuse.

Earlier, Minister of State for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhry introduced a series of new security measures during a press conference outside Parliament, accompanied by IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon. He explained that the government will soon launch a Secure Neighborhood Survey to improve public safety and build a stronger security system for the federal capital.

According to the minister, the survey will help authorities identify who is living or working in each house, shop, and office across Islamabad. In the next phase, electronic vehicle tags will become mandatory for all vehicles entering the city. He stated that no vehicle will be allowed entry without an E-Tag, as the system will help track movement and strengthen monitoring at all entry points.

These new measures follow the recent suicide attack near the Judicial Complex on November 11, 2025, which claimed at least 12 lives and injured many others. Security officials said the bomber was an Afghan national, and one facilitator involved in the attack was from Bajaur district. The facilitator was arrested during a search operation launched shortly after the blast. Authorities believe the new security steps will help prevent similar incidents in the future.
