Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori on Friday berated the provincial government over the Gul Plaza tragedy and demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, he said that even a week after the incident, the real facts have not emerged, and those responsible remain unidentified. He alleged that political interests are obstructing accountability and claimed that attempts are being made to protect the real culprits. The Governor suggested that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah may not be fully informed about the situation and urged him to personally visit the site to assess why the rescue operations have been slow and inefficient.
Highlighting the suffering of the victims’ families, Kamran Tesori questioned why the son of a deceased victim was subjected to police lathi-charge during the aftermath. He said grieving mothers are forced to seek justice while the authorities remain passive. He added that citizens sacrifice their lives and pay taxes, and no one should exploit this tragedy for political gain.
The Governor warned that he will expose the truth if the administration continues to ignore its responsibilities. He stressed that criminal negligence by officials must not be covered up and that full accountability is essential to restore public trust.
Additionally, Kamran Tesori announced that he intends to request Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to visit Karachi personally to evaluate the scale of injustice faced by citizens. He emphasized that Karachi residents are no longer waiting for promises but demand practical and immediate action.
