This clarification follows widespread sharing of misleading content on social media platforms, which created confusion among consumers eager for potential reductions in mobile phone costs. PTA officials pointed out that only official announcements carry legal weight, and any unauthorized claims regarding mobile taxation are entirely false.

Experts noted that the confusion likely arose from reports about new customs valuation rules for certain imported mobile phones. While the PTA stressed that no tax relief has been announced, it confirmed that the reduced customs valuation for four mobile phone brands is factual and officially notified. These rules affect import procedures but do not constitute a general tax cut for consumers.
