How citizens can apply for a new gas connection

The federal government has made it easier to apply for new gas connections.

Consumers can now apply through company websites, mobile apps, or by visiting the nearest office. Pakistan has approved a major plan to provide RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas) connections to domestic consumers across the country, a move aimed at meeting long-standing public demand for affordable and clean energy. The decision came during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, with top officials from the Petroleum Division, OGRA, SNGPL, and SSGCL in attendance.

During the meeting, the managing directors of SNGPL and SSGCL presented a comprehensive rollout strategy and assured that ambitious targets for new RLNG domestic connections will be achieved in the first year. The minister stressed that this project is a top priority of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, designed to provide households with uninterrupted access to cheaper and cleaner energy.

Ali Pervaiz Malik directed both gas utilities to create a transparent and consumer-friendly system that ensures smooth facilitation for the public. He highlighted that RLNG is about 30 percent cheaper than LPG and significantly cleaner, making it a more sustainable choice for households.

To ensure efficiency and transparency, the minister ordered the establishment of separate Project Management Offices (PMOs) in both SNGPL and SSGCL. These offices will oversee the process from application to connection, address public complaints on priority, and ensure timely achievement of targets.
