Indus Highway collision leaves 10 dead

At least ten people were killed and several others injured in a deadly road accident involving a passenger van and a trailer near Mithakhali on the Indus Highway in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, rescue and police officials said.

A deadly accident occurred at Lucky Gandaki on the Indus Highway when a passenger vehicle collided head-on with a trailer. The location is known for its sharp turns and high-speed traffic, often leading to accidents. According to police, the vehicle’s driver may have lost control while trying to overtake, resulting in the crash.

Ten people died at the scene, while at least eight others were injured. Rescue teams rushed the injured to the district headquarters hospital, where an emergency was declared. Many of the injured were reported to be in serious condition, and authorities fear the death toll may rise. Rescue workers continued efforts to pull trapped passengers from the wreckage. The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed.

This incident comes shortly after another serious accident near Hub, where a van carrying pilgrims to the Shah Noorani Shrine collided with another vehicle at Weirab Naddi. One person lost their life, and 25 others were injured in that crash. Rescue teams quickly responded and transported the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

Both incidents have raised concerns over road safety, especially on dangerous routes like the Indus Highway. Frequent accidents due to poor road conditions, sharp turns, and speeding have become a common problem in these areas. Authorities are urging drivers to remain cautious and follow traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.

Efforts are ongoing to provide medical care to the injured and identify the deceased. Local officials have promised a thorough investigation into the accidents.
