Ishaq Dar urges peace and tolerance in OIC address

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that the ongoing injustices in Palestine and Kashmir, along with rising Islamophobia, are major challenges to global peace in today’s world.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar addressed the OIC High-Level Meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, held under the theme of promoting a culture of peace and tolerance to mark 1500 years of the blessed birth of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He said this occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the timeless teachings of the Seerat-e-Tayyaba, which are rooted in peace, justice, compassion, and tolerance. Dar highlighted that the Prophet’s (PBUH) principles of justice, consultation, tolerance, and peaceful dispute resolution align with the fundamental values enshrined in the UN Charter.

He referred to the Covenant of Medina, the Treaty of Hudaybiyah, and the Conquest of Mecca as shining examples of humanity, dialogue, forgiveness, and coexistence, describing them as foundations of modern international law. The Foreign Minister called on the OIC to intensify efforts to safeguard the fundamental rights of Muslims worldwide and to overcome internal divisions. He stressed that the Muslim world must stand united in protecting its values while promoting dialogue and peace at the global level.

Dar further said that the OIC and the United Nations should work closely to build an environment where tolerance, dignity, equality, and mutual respect prevail. He assured that Pakistan will continue to play an active role and cooperate fully with OIC member states and the international community to achieve these shared goals. Through his remarks, Ishaq Dar underscored Pakistan’s commitment to advancing the principles of peace and tolerance while advocating for the rights and unity of the Muslim Ummah on international platforms.
