Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reached New York to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
He will highlight the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the question of Palestine, and draw attention to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Prime Minister will urge the international community to take decisive steps to end the suffering of Palestinians. He will also outline Pakistan’s perspective on regional security challenges, climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development, emphasizing the need for collective action on these issues.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will participate in a meeting of select Islamic leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss matters related to regional and international peace and security. His engagements will also include attending high-level events such as the UN Security Council meeting, the Global Development Initiative session, and a special event on climate action.
In addition, Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and senior UN officials to strengthen cooperation and discuss issues of mutual interest. Officials said his participation in these sessions will provide Pakistan an opportunity to present its position on critical matters before the international community. The visit underscores Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to raise awareness about ongoing conflicts, advocate for the rights of oppressed communities, and contribute to global discussions on peace, stability, and sustainable development.
