The threat of an impending storm has prompted Karachi local officials to impose a three-day restriction on public access to beaches and coasts.
The decision was taken in response to many warnings from the Meteorological Department and a lot of rain. Section 144, which forbids access to beaches and coastal regions from now till August 31, has been put into effect by Commissioner Karachi.
Storm alert issued for Karachi
The Meteorological Department issued many warnings and severe rains before making the decision. Swimming, diving, and sightseeing are prohibited as well as trips to the beach. Deputy Commissioners South and Kemari’s suggestions served as the basis for this action.
The authorities will enforce the restriction strictly, and any breaches will be dealt with accordingly. The Meteorological Department has issued a notice due to the potential storm hazard around Sindh’s coastline.
Over the Arabian Sea’s Kuch run-off area, there is now a lot of wind pressure. This weather system is anticipated to approach the coast of Sindh either tonight or tomorrow.
In the last twenty-four hours, Karachi has had varying amounts of rainfall; Gulshan Hadeed recorded the greatest amount at 62mm.
Gulshan Hadeed has received 128 mm of rain in the past 72 hours. Nazimabad reported 26mm, Kemari 21mm, while Surjani Town recorded 30mm yesterday from August 27 to 5 pm.
Faisal Base 14 mm, Orangi 13.1 mm, Saddar 13 mm, Meteorological Complex 12.2 mm, Old Airport 11.6 mm, Gulshan Mamar 11.1 mm, Jinnah Terminal 9.6 mm, PAF Masroor Base 9 mm, and Korangi 8.2 mm are the other places that were recorded.
