Lahore-Islamabad M2 Motorway fully open to traffic following disruption

The Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) is now fully open to all traffic types at all important segments.

Now that the M2 road from Chakri is operational, cars coming from Neela Dullah can proceed via the regular route. Additionally, all types of traffic are now able to travel on the M1 motorway.

On Sunday, the Lahore Traffic Police said that all city entrances and exits are available to traffic. Access to the Eastern Bypass has been restored, and movement within and outside of the city is seamless. Important intersections such as Babusabu, Thokar Niaz Baig, Shahdara, and Saggiyan are experiencing regular traffic flow.

Though there are still containers at 26 Number Chungi, the major Kashmir Highway in Islamabad is now open for traffic heading towards the motorway.

The deputy commissioner for Rawalpindi verified the resumption of traffic in the garrison city after they were closed to traffic, stating that all barriers and crates had been taken down.

In addition to opening both tracks of Murree Road and other thoroughfares, the remaining barriers are being taken down, he said.

The officer did, however, note that Pindi’s access to the capital city remains blocked since the Islamabad administration has the power to unblock the Murree Road in Faizabad.
