Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday expressed her desire to extend the Honhaar Scholarship Programme to students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan..
Addressing a scholarship distribution ceremony in Dera Ghazi Khan, she affirmed Punjab’s commitment to empowering deserving students across the country.
She assured that no deserving student would be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints. Scholarships under the Honhaar programme are distributed solely on merit, with the chief minister pledging to resign if even one case of favoritism is proven. Plans include distributing 50000 scholarships next year, with extensions to second and third-year students.
To further assist students, the government will provide laptops and e-bikes to enhance academic and research opportunities. An incubation center will also be established at Ghazi University to support innovation and meet educational demands.
Highlighting the dangers of fake news, she urged students to verify information before sharing it and emphasized the importance of respecting parents, linking it to success and divine blessings.
On political matters, she emphasized prioritizing national progress over personal interests and criticized the previous government for policies that harmed youth development. She reiterated her administration’s focus on education, peacebuilding, and progress.
Maryam Nawaz concluded by encouraging students to strive for excellence and pledged continued support through initiatives aimed at uniting the country and advancing development. She reaffirmed her commitment to education as a cornerstone for Pakistan’s future and promised to return with more resources to support students.
